SCHROTH SCOLIOSIS TREATMENT COURSES IN LITHUANIA

Based on the general principles of physiotherapy, Katharina Schroth founded the Schroth therapy method for the treatment of scoliosis in 1920. Nowadays, Schroth therapy is constantly being improved through the experience of therapists from all over the world. The use of posture correction exercises in the treatment of scoliosis is based on scientific principles directly related to the known etiology and symptoms of spinal deformity. Schroth therapy uses 3D scoliosis treatment based on sensorymotor and kinesthetic principles and an individualized exercise program, combining corrective positions with breathing. The goal of the therapy is to facilitate the correction of posture and asymmetric body parts (torso, spine) and to train the patient to consciously maintain the corrected posture and control it in daily activities.

The main elements of the treatment method are correction of reversible spinal pathologies, passive mobilization for scoliosis, active 3D stabilization, corrective breathing, posture control training focused on the patient’s daily activities, and the development of a simple and safe home exercise program.

About Schroth Courses

Schroth courses lead from a basic understanding of what scoliosis is to a more complex and comprehensive clinical thinking about conservative treatment of scoliosis. The courses will allow physiotherapists to provide appropriate conservative treatment for idiopathic scoliosis and kyphosis and to understand the asymmetric loading and biomechanics of the spine, which lead to functional and structural adaptations and the risk of further progression of scoliosis. The main goal of these scoliosis treatment courses is to prevent surgery, slow down or stop progression and improve the patient’s quality of life.

The goal of ISST – International Schroth 3-dimensional Scoliosis Therapy® International Institute is to ensure high-quality training in Schroth therapy and the improvement of the method itself. ISST interests are represented in Lithuania by INNOVAMED.
